We aim to exploit the real-time 3d mapping capabilities of AR-enabled mobile devices to generate 3d maps and enable fine-grained spatial tagging of data.
Elements of these capabilities have been around for a while. Indoor 3d mapping has been possible with expensive 3d laser scanners and trained technicians. It has been possible to then tag these maps with different media assets and notes, but it was a very tedious manual process for the user. However, now both of these can be done on a single mobile device automatically by a user with no technical background.
